Sanitation Specialist/ Quality Engineer N632

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in sciences or related field plus at least 5 years experience in sanitation in a supervisory capacity in the food and beverage industry. Specific requirements include:
- Hands on sanitation experience and expertise in food manufacturing plants.
- Proven expertise in cleaning chemistry, CIP systems, and sanitary design.
- Experience with HACCP, GMP’s, and regulatory inspections.
- Computer skills in word processing, database management and spreadsheets specifically with Microsoft Office products.
Responsibilities:This position will serve as the sanitation leader and expert for a food manufacturing facility. This position will provide oversight of sanitation procedures, training and equipment design and will evolve into progressively increased responsibilities in quality engineering. Specific responsibilities include:
- Provide expert sanitation troubleshooting support to all areas of plant operation serving as the visible “go to” person for plant sanitation expertise interacting with plant, corporate and external personnel.
- Review and maintain cleaning procedures working with plant personnel, chemical supplier and other resources.
- Manage plant-wide sanitation and pest control programs, procedures, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in sanitary design solution issues working with engineering or maintenance personnel. Participate in prioritizing capital projects related to Sanitation and Food Safety.
- Train employees from all shifts on cleaning procedures and chemical safety -both “hands-on” and in the classroom as necessary.
- Utilize continuous improvement tools to improve quality & eliminate waste through problem resolution, system improvements, “Standard Work Procedure” development, etc.
- Conduct sanitation and housekeeping inspections in all plant areas on a regular basis to include cleaning effectiveness, procedural compliance and sanitary design. Issue reports, support departments in addressing actionable items, and follow-up to assure completion. Communicate as required any food safety issues to assure prompt resolution.
- Lead process for production line certifications and sanitation procedures.
- Interface with corporate and plant resources while conducting PTRs and other tests.
- Ensure new processes and equipment installations are designed to provide proper sanitation and prevent compromises to food safety.
- Continuously improve CIP and all cleaning processes.
- Develop and enhance quality partnerships with key suppliers.
- Design and conduct process capability studies.
- Maintain documentation for regulatory compliance.

• Bachelor's degree in Micro, Food Science or related field; Master's degree preferred
• Minimum 10 years of experience in food safety or quality assurance in the food industry
• Must have experience as a sanitation/quality assurance/food safety practitioner in a food manufacturing facility and in the dairy industry. International experience would be a bonus
Responsibilities: Individual will be responsible for directing the organization on matters related to food safety, quality, and sanitation. Position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the company's food safety processes and ensuring application of those processes at all levels of the organization. This position leads in developing, formulating, recommending, implementing and monitoring food safety policies and programs. Assures that the organization maintains and improves its overall food safety strategies domestically and internationally. Specific responsibilities include:
• Apply knowledge and experience in creating and implementing organizational models for Quality/Food Safety.
Model the use of the Quality/Food Safety organization in accomplishing work domestically as well as internationally.
Lead the organization in attaining and maintaining SQF certification and adherence to GFSI standards.
Lead the Quality/Food Safety group in prioritizing work based on business need and risk assessment.
• Actively engage in development of the staff and leaders.
• Apply diary knowledge and experience in strengthening the organizational competencies in PMO including milk receiving, handling, and testing.
• Apply food safety experience to strengthen the organizational competencies in environmental monitoring, sanitation, traffic patterns, GMPs, equipment design, and infrastructure.
• Apply trouble shooting experience to enhance this competency within the organization.
• Assess issues and mediate solutions when interfacing directly with customers.
• Apply experience in product recalls and industry regulations in order to ensure compliance.
• Maintain and grow a professional network within related industry groups.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of current practices within the plant setting and develop credibility with the plant leadership through effective communication, providing strategic direction, and providing tactical direction through hand's on involvement, education and role modeling.
