Principal Sensory Scientist N640
Kansas
Major pet food company looking for a senior level individual to lead their Sensory Program.
Preferred Requirements: •    Ph.D. Sensory Science, with 12+ years experience in food/pet food industry/academia. MS + 15 years will be considered.
•    Experience in quantitative and qualitative sensory testing methodologies, i.e., difference testing, preference, testing, triangle tests, duo-trio tests, paired comparison, multiple comparison, ranking, scoring, descriptive flavor profile, threshold tests.
•    Experience in sensory physiology, panel selection and training.
•    Experience in experimental design and statistical methods used for data analysis.
•    Knowledge of sensory testing hardware and software application tools.
•    Knowledge of market research and focus group technologies, including the ability to moderate and interview groups.
•    Working knowledge of behavior research methodologies.
•    Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and strong technical writing skills.
•    Excellent interpersonal and team skills, which foster working relationships throughout organization and with outside groups.
•    Experience in managing sensory evaluation laboratories/facilities.
•    Extensive knowledge of product development & commercialization.
Responsibilities: As a Principal Scientist in the Sensory Department, you will provide overall leadership of the Sensory program, philosophy and principles, and will champion development, communication, and implementation of the program. The position will provide special emphasis on product related consumer testing to successfully guide new product development. In addition, the position is responsible for optimizing existing product performance and will serve as the primary consumer testing liaison with internal and external contracts, i.e., Market Research, Universities, and vendors.
Specific Responsibilities for this position include:
•    Apply knowledge of sensory evaluation methods to develop and design specific sensory test protocols to guide product development in meeting business needs.
•    Demonstrate business savvy in approach, design, and execution of upstream product related global consumer testing.
•    Design consumer questionnaires to elucidate the relationship and impact of sensory properties on consumer acceptance, product performance, product efficacy, and consumer relevant attributes.
•    Develop and manage sensory department budget.
•    Manage and prioritize all sensory department testing.
•    Analyze, interpret, and report results of sensory/consumer testing.
•    Actively lead or participate, as needed, in consumer testing sensory projects with Market Research and Global Business Development, acting as a team member to global Marketing Research.
•    Explore, evaluate, and adopt novel approaches to keep sensory program current and utilize state-of-the-art technology.
•    Establish, maintain, and manage solid working relationships with trade organizations, industry professionals, and consultants.
•    Lead the continuous improvements of sensory facilities as required.
•    Lead and facilitate the descriptive and consumer panels and develop ancillary training programs as needed.
•    Manage Sensory and Observation Laboratories.
•    Lead and manage special projects as necessary.
•    Statistically calibrate and validate palatability panels.

Senior Technologist- Dairy R607
Mid-West Location

Requirements: Candidate will have a BS degree in Food Science or related plus a minimum of 5 years experience developing fruit preparations for the Dairy/Yogurt industry.
Responsibilities: Candidate will have developed complete fruit preparations for the Dairy/Yogurt industry. This will include developing new ideations as well as matching competitive products, scale-up to commercialization and product demonstrations. Familiarity with fruit, sweeteners, stabilizers, flavors and color in the development of fruit base preparations necessary. Knowledge of customer manufacturing procedures is important. Candidate will be up to date with application techniques/evaluation of hydrocolloids/gums/starches/pectin in the development of fruit bases and preparations. Candidate will do joint sales calls with account managers performing customer presentations of new developments.
